After a five-year break, South Africa’s multi-platinum and award-winning songstress, Judith Sephuma, is back with a brand-new album, “When Winter Fades”.

The 8-track afrojazz album, recorded live in the studio with her full band, was released today, October 31, on all streaming platforms.

This album is Sephuma’s first studio project since her acclaimed 2019 release, “Power of Dreams”.

Produced by Job Thako and mixed and mastered at Audio Mix, “When Winter Fades” showcases the soulful warmth, emotional honesty and musical sophistication that have always made Sephuma’s music special.

“‘When Winter Fades’ captures Sephuma in her purest artistic form,  thoughtful, inspired and unafraid to evolve.

“It’s an album that invites listeners to pause, reflect and rediscover the warmth that follows every winter. With her signature grace and musical depth, Judith reminds us once again why her voice remains one of the most treasured in South African music,” a statement read.

The rollout for the album started earlier this month with the release of the first single, “Back To Love”. The song has already found a special place in the hearts of fans.

“Choosing a lead single was incredibly difficult because every track on this album is special. ‘Back To Love’ was chosen because it reminds me why I started making music – love has always been at the core of everything I do.

“Music is my first love, and this song brings me back to that truth,” shared Sephuma.

Fans can also look forward to other standout tracks from the album, such as “Mokete”, “Call My Name” and “Makeba”, which is a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Miriam Makeba.

This song pays homage to Makeba, who was one of Sephuma’s greatest inspirations, alongside  Letta Mbulu and Sibongile Khumalo.

Reflecting on the meaning behind the album’s title, Sephuma explains: “We must always remember that seasons change. Life is not static – each season teaches us lessons about joy, renewal, and rest. The rhythm of the seasons mirrors the rhythm of life itself.”
