Almost all Gr1 & 8 learners have been placed for 2023 academic year in Western Cape
Almost all the grade 1 and grade 8 learners who applied for schools in the Western Cape for 2023 have been placed.
According to the Western Cape Department of Education, only 680 of these learners are still to be placed.
The two grades always present a problem of thousands of learners who go through the first terms of the year still looking for schools in the province.
City doing all it can to mitigate sewer spills as load shedding affects water and sanitation infrastructure
The City of Cape Town says its doing everything possible to mitigate sewer spills affecting coastal areas. This comes after Fish Hoek and Muizenberg beaches had to be closed recently, which the City attributes to high stages of load shedding affecting the City’s water and sanitation infrastructure. The City says that residents need to understand that pump station faults can and will occur, given the ongoing energy crisis.
SA will make its mark as a digital economy- Ntshavheni
The Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, says South Africa is not going to be just an observer in the digital economy.
Ntshavheni was engaging with business and communications industry experts during the ANC National Conference Progressive Business Forum Breakfast recently.
She says the country is going to be the owner of the digital economy and a meaningful contributor.
Swiss government rejects introducing a third gender for official records
The Swiss government has rejected the idea of introducing a third-gender or no-gender option for official records.
Responding to two proposals from parliament, the governing Federal Council said “the binary gender model is still strongly anchored in Swiss society”. The government said that the social preconditions for the introduction of a third gender or for a general waiver of the gender entry in the civil registry currently are not there
