Contention around EFF’s national shutdown next week
The EFF says the DA has vested interest in the continued presidency of Cyril Ramaphosa because in their opinion he is a puppet and mascot. The party made the announcement following the DA’s intention to approach the courts to try and stop the EFF’s planned national shutdown on Monday.
BUT,
DA leader John Steenhuisen says he’s party will also press charges against the EFF leader and hold them personally liable for any damage done to persons, property and livelihoods during their planned shutdown
At the same time, the City of Cape Town has applied for a court interdict against threats of violence during Monday’s shutdown.
The EFF is calling for an end to the energy crisis and also wants President Cyril Ramaphosa to resign.
Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis, says everyone has a right to strike but not to threaten others.

GIZZU products being recalled because of fire hazard
The National Consumer Commission urged consumers who bought the GIZZU 300Wh and 500Wh portable power stations to immediately stop use and return these to the supplier.
According to Syntech, some devices combusted while charging and are being recalled due to being a fire hazard.
The Commission’s Phetho Ntaba says the devices have a battery manufacturing flaw.
OpenAI releases latest version of AI bot
OpenAI has released GPT-4, the latest version of its hugely popular artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT.
The new model can respond to images – providing recipe suggestions from photos of ingredients, for example, as well as writing captions and descriptions. It can also process up to 25,000 words, about eight times as many as ChatGPT.
