Contention around EFF’s national shutdown next week

The EFF says the DA has vested interest in the continued presidency of Cyril Ramaphosa because in their opinion he is a puppet and mascot. The party made the announcement following the DA’s intention to approach the courts to try and stop the EFF’s planned national shutdown on Monday.

DA leader John Steenhuisen says he’s party will also press charges against the EFF leader and hold them personally liable for any damage done to persons, property and livelihoods during their planned shutdown

At the same time, the City of Cape Town has applied for a court interdict against threats of violence during Monday’s shutdown.
The EFF is calling for an end to the energy crisis and also wants President Cyril Ramaphosa to resign.
Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis, says everyone has a right to strike but not to threaten others.
