The Proteas have made three changes to their starting XI for the second T20I against India in New Chandigarh on Thursday.
Tristan Stubbs, Keshav Maharaj and Anrich Nortje have all been rotated from the side that went down by 105 runs in the first match in Cuttack two days ago.
Top-order batter Reeza Hendricks, allrounder George Linde and seamer Ottneil Baartman all return to the playing XI.
India captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss for the second game in succession and elected to insert the Proteas.
“There was dew during the warm-up itself. This has always been a wonderful ground in franchise cricket, women’s game too,” Yadav said.
“It’s really important for boys to understand their responsibility and team demand. 175 was above par and bowlers did their job nicely. Hardik provides amazing balance, he handles pressure well, his overs are important.”
Proteas captain Aiden Markram admitted he would have bowled too.
“We’d have fielded. Looks a good wicket. Not a lot of internationals here but hope to get a good score and put them under pressure,” Markram said.
“We have to make peace with the fact that we can have nights like the first game, hope to make a better effort today.”
