Former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Tebow announced the passing of her father, Bennie Peters, who died on Thursday, October 16, after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

The beauty queen shared an emotional post on Monday, October 20, paying tribute to her father and sharing a little bit about his journey since he was diagnosed and how sweet he always was.

“Hi everyone, it’s with a heavy yet deeply grateful heart that I share my sweet dad went to be with Jesus last Thursday.

“Two years ago, we got the call that changed everything – Pappa was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The last two years have been incredibly tough, yet through it all, he never lost his humour, kindness, compassion or his deep love for Jesus and for our family.

“We met some of the kindest doctors and medical staff along the way – people who cared for him so tenderly that many became like friends. Thank you to everyone who loved him, cheered him on, and faithfully advocated for him,” she wrote.

Tebow shared a video which featured sweet memories of their family over the years, including Tebow’s wedding day, a picture of both Tebow and her husband, her father bonding with her newborn, taking walks together and more.

She expressed gratitude for how loving and caring he always was, sharing how much of a prankster he was.

“Pappa, there will never be enough words to describe my gratitude. Thank you for your endless love and care, for your jokes, pranks and stories, especially the one where you made your classmate believe the dried wood glue was custard!”

Tebow also shared: “The angels are in for a treat, because the man with the best dad jokes, the biggest heart and funniest pranks has arrived.

She further added that she will always remember her father as a “loving, protective and loyal daddy.”

The beauty queen received outpourings and heartfelt condolences.

“I’m sorry to hear that! I’m so glad he had the chance to hold your daughter!” @sheisenough_ps46_5 said

“What a beautiful tribute! Lifting you up in prayer. Love you,” @korie.robertson commented.

While @oliviaculpo added: “I’m so sorry for your loss Demi!”
