SA defence not up to standard – Expert
It seems South Africa may be left vulnerable if attacked by another country. This was revealed by a defence expert after Defence Minister Thandi Modise admitted that the defence force had become unsustainable after it suffered severe budget cuts in recent years. She admitted that the country needs to decide on the kind of defence we want and what we can afford.
Eskom can’t keep up with electricity generation
While we are gripped by various bouts of loadshedding, Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says a transmission team had been formed to tackle a range of issues that are becoming increasingly worrying. In a media briefing at the weekend, Ramokgopa said Eskom cannot finance the country’s electricityu generation on the scale and the speed which it needs to be done. He said the power utility has a clear lack of financing when it comes to maintenance and generation.
Sign language as 12th official language welcomed
Stellenbosch University has welcomed the inclusion of sign language as the 12th official language.
The institution believes the move will open many opportunities for the deaf community.
